MEDIA STORM FOR BURNDEN PAIR
Run Media City Half Marathon, organised by Run Through, is a closed-roads event featuring two scenic laps around Salford and Eccles â starting and finishing at Media City. Two of Burndenâs finest smashed personal records on the course. First in was Francesca Caine who set a new half marathon PB in a speedy time of 1:33:36. Training for Manchester Marathon in April, Rob Moran-Hetherington showed he was on fine form as he achieved a sub 2 hour in 1:59:33. TROTTERS EDGES CLOSER

NORMANS GRIM AND BEAR IT
Andy and Rachel Norman laced up their trainers and headed to Yorkshire for a soggy and muddy challenge by the Leeds-Liverpool Canal. Always a popular choice for runners of all abilities, Grim up North events offer a variety of distances as well as scenic routes and a medal on completion. EXCELLENT XC CHAMPS
The Burnden Cross Country team were out two weekends in a row and represented over in Runcorn for the Sunday League and at Heaton Park in the South East Lancs League. Six runners made the trip over to Runcornâs Town Park, an undulating and muddy home to the infamous Ski Slope Hill, which makes for a fantastic course alongside a well-supported and organised race. HORSMAN PULLS IN THE NEW YEAR
The final day of 2025 saw Burnden revellers celebrating the New Year early with Trail Blazing Events and the Trails and Ales 10K, which finishes with a pie, a pint and a party. Before the clock struck midnight on a freezing Bolton, the sounds of a bag piper could be heard as runners set off to tackle the Horwich trails. WE WISH IT COULD BE PARKRUN EVERY DAY!
Christmas Day for runners starts with Christmas Parkrun! Perfect for making room for that big meal, 9am on the 25th December brought freezing weather and festive cheer to Leverhulme Park. A total of 35 Burndeners donned their Santa hats, elf ears and more to run the 5K course with 185 others. PARKRUN CHRISTMAS
A host of Christmas characters stepped into parkrun this weekend as festivities were ramped up in the last weekend before the big day. Presents and trees, elves and Scrooge, snowmen and reindeer all gathered for a colourful photo before heading out for the 5K route. Peel parkrun in Salford was the hotspot this Saturday for a horde of Burndeners looking to improve their times. Back in February, Burndeners gathered at Peel to unzip their best 5K efforts - in the hope of being the best improved and to win a prize. After a very successful meeting between the captains we're pleased to announce the 2026 race calendar . We've tried to keep the costs of races and the distance travelled to a minimum. However to get a good variety of races, this criteria couldn't be met for all. Cutacre Festive 5K hailed a new hero this week as Burndenâs own Martin Cullen was first home! XC TEAM BACK FOR MUD
Burnden were off to Liverpool this week as the Cross Country season continued on Saturday with the Cross Challenge. Bringing grit, determination and smiles, two Senior teams would take that brave step into the mud fields of Sefton Park for that could it be magic moment. FORTY AND FABULOUS!
Burnden Road Runners hit a huge milestone this week as November 2025 marks 40 years since the Clubâs affiliation with England Athletics. Members poured in to celebrate Burndenâs big birthday at Georgian House with a BBQ buffet, DJ and dancing - organised by Kath and Andrew Berry and Jennifer Entwistle.
