Burnden Road Runners Race Report Week Beginning 15th June 2026
BURNDEN SMASHES TOUR OF TAMESIDE A sixth of Burnden’s speedies were super busy this week as they took on the (in)famous Tour of Tameside. Comprising over 50km of running, it explores routes, trails and tough terrain from Thursday to Sunday – making it a very active long weekend away! Burnden Race Report May 31st
Created by Suzi Walmsley A week of heat and not only the weather 2 Burndeners completed a race in Cornwall on Wednesday 27th May. Rachel and Andy Norman did The Gribbin 10km. This was reported as a tough, hilly, but stunning coastal trail race. Temperature gauge - super hot. Rachel and Andy finished together in 1:05:09. Burnden Race Report 29th May
Report by Jen Forkin BADAT FIRST HOME AGAIN AT HORWICH It was a double whammy as the Horwich Coronation trail ticked off a race on both the Off-Road Championship and the Central Lancs Grand Prix. The trail saw a torrent of Burndeners traversing the fells for the midge-feast challenge - navigating 6 miles of the lesser known Rivington paths around the source and route of the River Yarrow. Burnden Race Report 17th May 2026
Created by Suzi Walmsley On May 14th our very own Nia Bell completed her final day of her 12-day solo walk along Offa’s Dyke trail route, this was a total of 177 miles. What a fantastic achievement. On Sunday 17th May, Katie Walsh ran a 10k in Chesterfield in 47:45, a PB by 2 minutes. Katie kicking out milestones like pebbles on a path. Burnden Race Report 3rd May
Completed by Suzi Walmsley (triathlon report by Mike Caine) Starting in chronological order, our first running jaunt of the week was Paul Duke, who did Foe Edge Fell Race in 42:42. He was the only Burnden runner running finishing in 44th place, whilst enjoying the pleasant views. Race report 11th April 2026
Another busy week for Burnden with our runners taking on Rivington Pike Fell Race on Saturday 4th April and then a Burnden Quartet taking on Darwen Half Marathon on Sunday 5th April. Pike Fell Race A lot of perseverance was required to tackle the Pike, with Storm Dave biting at their feet.
