Race Report - Week Ending 4th October

Saturday 3rd October saw Paula Pilling take on the stunning yet brutal Orsières 15K trail race in the Swiss Alps.
With a challenging route featuring over 2,400 feet of elevation, Paula put in a fantastic performance, finishing 7th female overall and taking the win in her age category.


A number of Burndeners took part in the popular ASICS Manchester Half Marathon on Sunday 4th October, First Burnden man home was Adam Corker, who produced an impressive 1:21:04. First Burnden female was Sadie Thompson, who achieved a PB of 1:36:17.
For Rebecca Riley, it was her inaugural half marathon, and she crossed the finish line in a very respectable 2:41:43.

Andy Norman headed over to West Yorkshire and was the 50 min pacer at the Mighty Morley 10k. Rachel Norman came in at 53m 49s. Andy deemed the course to be ‘lumpy but with a great atmosphere’
Paul Cox headed North for the Kielder Half Marathon, a scenic multi-terrain event which winds through Kielder Forest, with views of the reservoir and surrounding hills. Paul came home ina time of 2:20:04.
Burnden Parkrun Round up:
Bolton park run attracted the most Burndeners this weekend with Alexander Shield first Male home for the club in 20m 05s, 4th place over all.
First female home was Luisa Shield in 25m 55s, 5th lady over all and a good outing for the Shield siblings.

Mark and Ann Butler took to Black Combe parkrun in Cumbria coming in at 27m 02s and 29m 12s.
Connor Barrett attended Castlebar in the west of Ireland achieving a time of 23m 51s.
Phil Fryer continued his run of sub twenty minute parkruns by coming in at 19m 19s at Worsley Woods. He was followed by Gary Avison in 21m 08s and Kelly Johnson-Owen 28m 30s who has been getting under the 30 min mark with ease of late.
Burnden’s fastest parkrun of the week came from Suleman Badat at Peel in a decent 18m 23s. He was followed by John Marsh 30m 02s; Chris Marsh 35m 43s; Ivan Brown 46m 43s.
