Another brilliant few weeks of competing both on UK soil and abroad.

On 28th August at the Mid Cheshire 5k, Michael Kermode completed this race in the time of 00:17:50, this was a PB for him.

On 30th August, we head over to Daegu, South Korea, where Gwen Kinloch and Andy Warburton have been taking the world by storm.

Half marathon day this morning and Gwen Kinloch ran half marathon in the time of 1:46:14 and claimed a silver medal. Andy Warburton then ran in the M65 race and recorded a time of 2:13:58. Following on from this, Andy Warburton was finally rewarded for his efforts with a M60 team bronze medal in the 8K Cross Country event. For Gwen it was business as usual in the ladies 8K Cross Country as she finished 2nd lady overall to claim her silver medal (her 3rd medal overall).

To finish things off, Gwen along with two other runners collected their 2nd place silvers in the W60 category, therefore making this a 4-medal haul in the championship.

The Ray McGloin Duathlon, organised by Tri-Rivington, is a popular local multi-sport event based at Smithills School in Bolton, combining running and cycling in a challenging but accessible format. The 2026 event returned bigger and better, with competitors completing a run-bike-run course through the scenic roads around the Rivington/Bolton area, making it suitable for both experienced athletes and those new to duathlon. There was also a two-person relay option, allowing athletes to share the run and bike disciplines. The weather this year added to this challenging event with high winds and rain, however this didn't phase any of the competitors. The results for Burnden Tri were as follows: -

Mike Caine 4th Place 2:03:12, Martin Fielding 5th Place 2:05:51, Martin Cullen 13th Place (Course PB beaten by 5 mins) 2:19:45, Josh Palmer 22nd 2:31:15. In the Relay, Gill and Phil Morris 4th 2:17:52.

On Saturday 5th September, there was a special Parkrun mention for our super Phil Glassbrook: He has completed 250 volunteering events and 250 runs. A fantastic feat.
