Race Report - 3rd July

A busy week of tough racing for our Burnden Road Runners.

On Saturday, four of our burnden runners took on a swimming event and this was Ullswater Swim – Maz Matthews-Wyatt, Keith Thomas and Stephen Riddle took part in different events on what appeared to be a challenging day in the water.

Maz Matthews Wyatt completed the 750m swim in Ullswater despite several challenges.


On Saturday 27th June, Tess Riley and Rosie McDonagh completed Deadly Dozen challenge, this consists of 12 weight challenges, with names such as Farmers Carry, Deadlift, Burpee Broad and Goblet Squat, aswell as eight others. This is a tough challenge, however both were supported well by Burnden ‘cheer team’ and have done themselves proud.


On Sunday 28th June, two of Burnden did a charity run at Tatton Park and this was Race for Life 10k. Andy Norman and Justin Bones ran as pacers at this event.


As shown on Saturday, Sunday was also a busy day for running.

Ian Mann and Cheryl Dunleavy took part in Scarecrow Festival 10k. Cheryl Dunleavy 01:21:05, Ian Mann 01:29:07.


The second race on Sunday 28th June was Gin Pit, a yearly event that Burnden often show up in force to partake.

In relation to Parkrun, there is one last one to mention for Sue and Simon Marland on their trip following the world cup and this was at Richmond Olympic Parkrun in Vancouver on 20th June. This was reported to be a lovely flat out and back along the river. Simon finished in 22:51 and Sue in 33:22.
