2026 RACE LIST CONFIRMED
After a very successful meeting between the captains we're pleased to announce the 2026 race calendar . We've tried to keep the costs of races and the distance travelled to a minimum. However to get a good variety of races, this criteria couldn't be met for all. We have also doubled up on some races by combining some of the Club races with the Central Lancs Grand Prix and the Off-Road Championship. We are currently trying to negotiate discounts on some of the races.These are

CULLEN A CUT ABOVE THE FESTIVE
Cutacre Festive 5K hailed a new hero this week as Burnden’s own Martin Cullen was first home! Raising funds for the cancer charity, Maggie’s, the race around Cutacre Country Park welcomes festive outfits, families and dogs. Martin was top of the tree in a festively fantastic time of 24:25. XC TEAM BACK FOR MUD
Burnden were off to Liverpool this week as the Cross Country season continued on Saturday with the Cross Challenge. Bringing grit, determination and smiles, two Senior teams would take that brave step into the mud fields of Sefton Park for that could it be magic moment. The Cross Challenge is significant in the calendar as it serves as a trial for for the European Cross Country Championships, where athletes compete for spots on the Great Britain and Northern Ireland team. FORTY AND FABULOUS!
Burnden Road Runners hit a huge milestone this week as November 2025 marks 40 years since the Club’s affiliation with England Athletics. Members poured in to celebrate Burnden’s big birthday at Georgian House with a BBQ buffet, DJ and dancing - organised by Kath and Andrew Berry and Jennifer Entwistle. Former Chairs and original member, Kath, contributed to an interesting speech on the Club’s history, which culminated with a thank you from current Burnden Chair, Tony Fulop. T

TRAIN WITH Burnden
MONDAY
We meet at Smithills Sports Centre every Monday evening (except Bank Holidays) We have a variety of sessions each week from effort sessions, muster runs, trail runs and Beginner groups

TUESDAY
Free Community Track session, with focus on the session being open to anybody in the community. The sessions are for all abilities and everyone is supported.

WEDNESDAY
Our popular 1 foot on the track at Leverhulme Park is a well established and organised track session, perfect if you are focusing on a personal running target.
