CULLEN A CUT ABOVE THE FESTIVE

Cutacre Festive 5K hailed a new hero this week as Burnden’s own Martin Cullen was first home!

Raising funds for the cancer charity, Maggie’s, the race around Cutacre Country Park welcomes festive outfits, families and dogs.

Martin was top of the tree in a festively fantastic time of 24:25.


BRRS BACK AT EWOOD

A return to the Winter Warmer Blackburn 10K was the weekend plan for a few Burndeners this year. Setting off from the home of Blackburn Rovers, Ewood Park, over 1,300 competitors took a winding tour of the town centre – passing over the bridge and by the Cathedral before returning to the stadium.

First in for a premiership finish was Suleman Badat in 37:26 followed by Ryan Moore in 44:50 and Gregg Beardwell in 45:57. First lady was Gillian McGowan in 1:12:16 with Jennifer Entwistle tail running 1:30:00. Home with a PB was Hamad Ali in 47:12 and Rich Burnett in 49:30. Other results - Ally Marland – 47:43, Richard Blake – 53:14, Ian Mann – 1:23:48.


DUNLEAVYS IN THE DALE

Cheryl and Andy Dunleavy were off to the beautiful village of Ravenstonedale near Kirkby Stephen for a 10K treat. The autumnal road race is described by Cheryl as ‘a fabulously undulating scenic beauty.’ Andy led the couple home in 44:06 – welcoming Cheryl in 1:19:35.
