TRIATHLON NEWS - FROM CAPTAIN MIKE CAINE

The club annual pilgrimage to Edge Hill University to take part in the West Lancs Summer Sprint Triathlon did not disappoint this weekend. 15 individuals and 1 relay team took part which was a record club attendance for this hugely popular North West race.

The event is based around the University Campus and occurs twice a year, with a 16 length pool swim, approximately 13 mile fast cycle route around the Ormskirk countryside and a 5k flat run around the Ormskirk Parkrun course, finishing on the University running track.

The first man to finish for Burnden Tri was Martin Fielding in a blistering 1:13:33 time and 26th in his age category out of 115. Our first lady was Francesca Caine achieving her course Personal Best of 1:29:46 shaving 5 minutes off last year’s performance. Well done also to Joanna Fielding and Jen Entwistle on completing their first Triathlons.
