Ian Hesketh Marshals needed

Thank you for all the support you have given to the races we have been involved in this year. We had great feedback from runners at the Trotters race and the adjudicator was very complimentary about our marshals.  The feedback after the Bolton 10k,  from runners, BWFC in the Community and even Andy Burnham was equally positive.

Some of you will be aware that we are, for a second year, supporting the Ian Hesketh Memorial Duathlon. This is a small, friendly event based in Rivington, organised by Tony Hesketh in memory of his son. Many of your will know Tony on a competitive level as he has been a stalwart of the Bolton running scene for many years.

A small team from our club have been busy sorting out race licences, permissions, medal designs and a whole range of bits and pieces to help ensure the race has all the necessary paperwork to go ahead.

We are now looking to race day itself and, in particular, marshals. Tony has a small group of volunteers who marshal every year but we need around 20 more volunteers to ensure the course is safe for runners and cyclist alike. I know that we have asked for your help a number of times over the past couple of months but it would be amazing if you could spare a little time to support us with this.

Details of the event are:

Date: Saturday 24 May 2025

Time: Marshal meeting: 8:00 (final time tbc)

          Race starts: 9:00

          Race ends:  12:00 (approx)

Venue: Rivington Primary School

There will be refreshments available at race HQ, all marshals usually get a free hot sandwich and drink.

Thanks in advance for any support you are able to give us.

Kindest regards,

Alyson
