Grim weather did nothing to deter speedy Tyler Hill from scaling the heights of the Lake District as he placed 1st position in a field of 128 at Ullswater 14K.
The stunning Lakeland Trails events offer a variety of routes and distances with panoramic views, challenging elevations and exhilarating descents.
The impressive accolade for Hill came after he was first to climb up to Boredale Hause before a swift descent back down to the Patterdale Valley and a ribbon breaking finish in 1:08:36.
KINLOCH 1ST VET AT THE MASTERS
The British Masters Championships were held this week and Burnden brought home another 1st position in Gwen Kinloch.
Gwen and partner Andy Warburton both raced at the 10K event, which is part of the Heaton Harriers Memorial Race held at Town Moor in Newcastle.
Gwen was awarded a Gold medal for placing 1st V65 in 45:26 and Andy put in a great performance and a season’s best time of 52:46.
BURNDEN REMEMBERS
Armistice Day is always marked in the race calendar with several poppy-themed runs and Lytham’s Windmill Remembrance 10K is always well attended. A deceptively tough course in the November wind, this is a flat out and back up to the eye-catching windmill at Avenham Lake.
Following a respectful 2 minutes silence for our fallen heroes, Burnden produced some excellent race times with Lee White finishing first in 41:54. Second in was Peter Gardner in 46:22 and third was Paul Cox in 50:17. First lady Emma Walker completed in 1:00:30.
Other results – Andy Norman supporting blind runner, Katy, to a PB in 55:53, Luke Newell – 1:08:08, Susan Wood – 1:11:06, Debra Hennessey – 1:11:08, Tony Fulop – 1:18:07,
MARLANDS' STORY TIME
A fairy tale mix of treats await runners who sign up to a chapter from the ‘Grim Up North’ racebook and this week the Marlands returned to a favourite passage.
The Swinsty and Fewston Trail Race, with its beautiful route around the reservoirs, was just right for the pair who chose different distances. Simon took on the Half Marathon and completed his page in an happy ending of 1:50:23. Sue took on the 6.7 mile loop and closed the book in 1:18:11.
