Race Report - 26th April 2026

On Sunday 26th April, four of our fabulous Burnden runners ran London Marathon. A warm day taking in the sights of London and doing pretty good running, if I do say so myself.

This was an event they were all immensely proud of, and rightly so.

Blackpool Running Festival

Another quartet of Burnden runners found themselves at Blackpool Running Festival, also Sunday 26th April, another day of proud moments for our runners . I don’t think any of them found themselves between a rock (Blackpool) and a hard place.

Rachel Norman - Half Marathon, 1:59:04 – a PB for Rachel in distance, that she is incredibly proud as punch about.

Sunday 19th April

Simon and Sue Marland took the streets of another seaside town in Sunderland and completed the Pier2Pier race, approximately 7 miles, starting from South Shields pier on the beach, up onto the cliff tops following the coastline before dropping back onto the beach for the final stretch to Roker pier. It was reported to have amazing views.

Simon finished in 56.36 and Sue in 1hr 20mins 51 secs.

Parkrun Tourism – notable mention

Paula was 1st Lady & highest age grade of the day. On a course known for it’s challenges of mud, rain and the general trials & tribulations of winter, Saturday 25th parkrun was super dry and pleasant to run.
