Eight members of the Burnden stable crossed the finish line this weekend as the Chester Marathon tested the hooves of thousands.

Hamad Ali, 4 weeks fresh from Sydney Marathon, brought home the coveted Triple Medal for running the ‘ultimate challenge’ of the 10K, Half Marathon and Marathon over the year. Hamad achieved a 30 minute PB for Chester – crediting a friend for pacing him – taking just 4:26:59 to complete the course.

First home of the Burnden 8 was speedy stallion, Andy Norman, who pulled up at 3:26:12. Next in was Phil Fryer with 3:49:09 then first lady Kimberley Lowe in 4:30:35 - a 13 minute PB. Running alongside Kimberley was Ravi Patel and Marcus Chester – also 4:30:35.

Bernie Jones was second lady in with 4:59:07 and finally Tess Riley in 5:04:42. Tess has 11 marathons checked off and was running Chester in memory of her beloved dad for Bolton Dementia Support.

Credit and a huge shoutout for Lyndsey Berrisford who took home the coveted gold Triple Medal for completing all 3 races - substituting the Marathon for the Metric. Lynsdsey crossed the Metric finish line 3:37:09.

WHITEHEAD AT HEATON HALF

One of Burnden’s speedy men was the sole runner for Burnden at the Heaton Park Half Marathon event. The Half is one distance of four, which are regularly held by Run Through Events at Heaton Park.

Starting and finishing within the park, the race is made up of 4 5K laps with a 1-mile small loop to start. It is an undulating course run entirely on tarmac paths and gives runners a great chance to see the historic hall and the grounds of the park. Martin completed the course in a white-hot time of 1:48:19.

The Rainford 10K, not too far from Skelmersdale, is a mixed terrain route and a scenic journey around the village and the park. In a competitive field, we had one Burndener flying the flag with some bee-rilliant support from wife, Cheryl.

Andy Dunleavy has made a superb return to running after injury and took 2nd place V65 in a splendid time of 44:22.
