BRAVE FELL PAIR



Rossendale Harriers offer a tough series of fell races, of which Edenfield is a feature. Those familiar with the area will appreciate the beauty but be aware of the infamous Marl Pits from Cross Country lore. Runners clock up a distance of 10.3K with 477 metres of ascent, encounter some boggy bits and tackle challenging and technical downhills. Kathryn Baron was first home in 1:16:38 and Justin Bones crossed in 1:43:49.


COX RUNS FOR CAKE

Always a good incentive to run, cake was the prize on offer for Paul Cox at the finish line of the ‘Ruddy’ Rothwell Cakeathon.

Beautiful Rothwell Country Park is the venue with 6 distances on offer to suit all abilities of runner.

A looped and undulating route awaited Paul as he chose the 10 mile and his sweet treat was well deserved as he finished in a delicious 1:31:00.


SOLE SALFORD SPRINTER




Speedy Andrew Horrocks was out again tackling a 10K around Media City in Salford. The course is flat and quick and comprises 4 laps starting in the central Piazza Stan Ogden and taking in the highlights of the landmark including the BBC Studios, The Lowry Theatre and the Imperial War Museum.

Andrew completed the 4 laps in a swift 38:43.


SUE TURNS 300!

Sue and Simon Marland’s parkrun adventures are the stuff of legend as the couple explore all corners of the UK in their quest to complete different parkruns. The couple have notched up an incredible 869 parkruns between them – Simon hitting 458 and Sue 411!

This week Sue hit another milestone with her 300th different location parkrun in Ury Riverside – crossing in 33:08 with Simon finishing in 22:25.

Just a few days before, the couple completed the tough Lovstien, Bergen parkrun in Denmark on Ascension Day.
