Join the Research Project!
Are you a passionate fell runner eager to contribute to cutting-edge research? Here's your
chance to be part of an exciting study aimed at uncovering vital insights into the
biomechanical aspects of fell running!
The project, led by researchers at the University of Central Lancashire, is dedicated to
investigating the mechanisms underlying the injuries prevalent among fell runners. But we
need YOU – dedicated runners like yourself – to help us gather crucial data that could
revolutionise the way we understand and prevent running injuries. The study is open to
novice females and males and experienced females (aged 18+).
What's in it for you? Not only will you be contributing to scientific advancement in the field
of sports biomechanics and fell running, but you'll also gain valuable insights into your own
running technique and potential injury risks through personalised individual feedback. Plus,
you'll have the opportunity to test cutting-edge motion analysis technology provided by the
university.
What to Expect:
• A warm welcome and the opportunity to talk with the leading researcher on fell
running biomechanics.
• Where? Testing takes place at the biomechanics lab at the University of Central
Lancashire.
• What Will You Do? After a warm-up, you’ll be fitted with reflective markers for precise
tracking of your body movement. Next, you will be asked to run down our specially
designed downhill ramp in each shoe type. Each downhill test will be recorded to
evaluate how each shoe affects your body’s movement.
• Duration: Each session takes about 2 hours, including a cool-down. Just come
prepared with the tightest fitting running attire you have!
Ready to lace up your shoes and be part of something groundbreaking? Join us at UCLan’s
Biomechanics Laboratory and be a part of the future of fell running!
