WARRINGTON WONDERS

Warrington Festival of Running returned this week and featured many a Burndener opting to compete in the ballot operated races, which take place on closed roads and at no charge.

Weaving in and around Warrington Town Centre, the flat and fast races start and finish at the iconic Golden Gates.

Mark Whittington led the Halfers home in a breathtaking 1:19:17 – claiming 2nd MV50 and a PB. Michael Kermode was second in 1:22:55 and 48th overall position. Taking home double PBs and sub 2s were Ravi Patel in 1:30:11 and Kimberley Lowe in 1:58:33. Verity Harrison was home in 1:52:58 and Aaron Dennel was just over the two hours with 2:04:43. Tony Fulop opted for the 10K distance and was across the line in 1:15:36.

Andy Norman – 1:35:02

MORECAMBE FOR NORMAN

Just the one Burndener represented at the Morecambe Half Marathon this week – a spur of the moment decision for Andy Norman.

Another flat and fast route, it’s a regular haunt for Burndeners and Andy finished in an excellent time of 1:35:02 – feeling good despite a minor injury.
