GRAND TURNOUT AT RADCLIFFE 5K

ree

Burnden turned out a horde of 46 runners at Sedgely Park Rugby Club – raring to go for Radcliffe AC’s annual 5K. The club’s contribution to the Central Lancashire Grand Prix is a young and exciting race with a sting in its tail. The route adopts parts of the popular but tough 13 Arches Half Marathon, passing over the shaky but safe motorway footbridge before heading to the trails of Philips Park. The twist appears in a challenging climb locally known as ‘Heartbreak Hill’.

Despite the incredible challenge to reach the summit, times flew in to make the Club proud and Vet Category top 3 wins were again plentiful.

Suleman Badat topped the charts again with 19:32 – claiming 2nd MV45. Mark Whittington collected 2nd MV50 with 19:58 and Tyler Hill rounded up the top trio in 20:59.

Tens of sub 25s followed and Mark Cannon took the 1st Vet Cat win for MV60 in 21:34. Andy Dunleavy claimed 3rd MV65 in 26:04 and Finlay Coyne took 2nd MV75 in 34:20.

Jessica Lee was first Burnden lady in 22:48 followed by Katie Walsh in 24:19 and Vicki Hamer in 24:28. Gwen Kinloch took 1st FV65 in 24:36, Kathryn Baron was 1st FV60 in 26:14 and Marie Parkinson took 2nd FV60 in 26:17. Anne Ferguson was 2nd FV65 in 26:47.
