AIDY LEAVES WITH A HEAVY HEART

After a decade of dedication, determination, and camaraderie, Aidy Ashburn has announced his departure from Burnden Road Runners to join Radcliffe Athletic Club.

In a heartfelt statement, Aidy shared, “With a heavy heart, I have decided to leave Burnden Road Runners to join Radcliffe AC. With Radcliffe being right on my doorstep, it’s a great opportunity for me to concentrate more on my training.”

Aidy joined Burnden 10 years ago and quickly became a familiar and friendly face at events across the region. His running journey is one of remarkable progress. From clocking 1 hour 50 minutes at the Manchester Half Marathon in 2017 to achieving an impressive 1 hour 38 minutes at the Cheshire Half Marathon in 2020, Adrian’s dedication to improvement was evident.

But more than his times, Adrian will be remembered for his infectious enthusiasm and his unwavering encouragement of others. Whether it was on training nights or race days, Aidy was always there to support his fellow runners with a kind word or a helping hand.

While it’s difficult to say goodbye, the entire Burnden family wishes Aidy the very best as he begins this new chapter with Radcliffe AC. We look forward to seeing him soon in his new colours, still doing what he does best – running with passion and lifting up those around him.

Good luck, Aidy – and thank you.
