Burnden Race Reports

Sunday 5th September 2021


24 Burnden runners turned up to tackle Ged Fell run. A two and a half kilometre (just over one and a half miles in real terms) run with 137 metres (450 feet) of climbing. With great marshaling support from non-running Burnden members including Nia Bell, Gillian McGowan and Don Taylor the snaking course, with its multiple surfaces, stiles, gates and steps was negotiated without mishap by all the runners. Leading the men home in a time of 11 minutes and 53 seconds was Jonathan Sangster. Paul Duke (12:30) was second with Steve Nolan finishing 3rd man in 13:42. The ladies race was much closer with just 25 seconds separating the first three finishers. Anne Ferguson time of 15 minutes and 5 seconds just pipped Sarah Watton's time of 15:12, with Gwen Kinloch finishing third in 15:30.
