PILLING 10K

BURNDEN’S Gwen Kinloch followed up her victory in the Blacksticks Blue 10K the week before by winning the Pilling 10K women’s race.
Gwen won in 41mins 52secs as Burnden claimed a 1,2 in the race with Sarah Watton second and 1st F Senior in 43:32.
There were age group wins for Lyndsay Darbyshire, 1st F50 in 45:19, Anne Ferguson 1st F60 in 45:36 and Paul Christie, 1st V65 in 48:26.
Richard Pollitt was the fastest club member in the men’s race, finishing 18th overall and 3rd V40 in 39:41, followed by Gareth Doherty in 41:18 and Andy Duffy, 3rd V55 in 41:33.
Tony Wall was 2nd V60 in 44:37. Other results:
Steven Bate (47:28), Vicki Hamer (47:58), Lawrence McDonald (48:12), Linda O’Byrne (48:40), Andy Warburton (50:13), Diane Wylie (55:24) Louise Wall (56:09).

GB ULTRA CHESTER


Stand-out performer for sheer grit and endurance at the weekend was Sarah Woodiwiss who tackled the GBUltra Chester 100-Mile event and crossed the line – still smiling – after a gruelling 34 hours 10 minutes.

BERGHAUS DRAGON's BACK RACE

Jonathan Sangster also put in a full shift at the Berghaus Dragon’s Back race, covering the first day route of the 351km event down the spine of the Wales finishing the 50K stage from Conwy Castle to Nant Gwynant with its 3,650metres of climb in 11:42:05.

WINDERMERE MARATHON
Richard Blake was our sole representative at the Asics Windermere Marathon, finishing with a time of 4:50:21.

HORWICH JUBILEE
Burnden ladies scored more success at the Horwich Jubilee series with Lyndsay Darbyshire 1st L50 in 36:18 and Anne Ferguson 1st L60 in 36:47. Their times plus Vicki Hamer’s time of 38:50 earned them second place in the team standings.
Shirley Staveley was 2nd L55 in 41:54 and Phil Glassbrook was 2nd V70 in 46:10. Steven Bate posted a time of 37:32.

ANDERTON BOAT LIFT 10K
Mel Walker was 1st V70 at the Anderton Boat Lift 10K near Northwich with a time of 54:59 with Phil Glassbrook 3rd V70 in 58:43 and Debra Hennessey crossing the line in 1:06:18.

GREAT RUN MANCHESTER HALF MARATHON
Three members took on the Great Manchester Run Half Marathon with Gayle Gerrard fastest of the trio in 1:47:47, followed by John Egan in 2:08:53 and Steven Snape in 2:26:16.

GREAT RUN MANCHESTER 10K
In the 10K Great Manchester Run, Kate Ellis was the first member to finish with her time of 47:10 ahead of Mike Watkinson in 48:11 and Colm O’Brien in 48:41 making it three Burndeners under 50 minutes.
Karen Smith was next in 51:34, with Shirley Robinson home in 1:12:44, Janine Taylor in 1:12:45, Gemma Chapman in 1:16:27 and Bill Kelly in 1:34:03.
