BURNDEN members showed their prowess over shorter distances with eight age group wins at the Ramsbottom Summer Mile.
Paula Pilling won the women’s race and the F40 category with her time of five minutes 57 seconds.
Rob Short posted the fastest club time coming 6th overall in 5:05, with Marcus Taylor, 13th overall and 1st M45 in 5:20, George Butler 16th in 5:25 and Lee White 20th and 2nd M45 in 5:32 ensuring four finishers in the top 20 in the men’s race.
Mark Jackson (5:35), Gareth Doherty (5:43) and Martyn Pollitt, 2nd M55 in 5:44 made it eight members under six minutes.
The other age category successes were posted by Tony Wall, 1st M60 in 6:02, Sarah Watton, 1st FS in 6:15, Jackie Oakes 1st F45 in 6:23, Gwen Kinloch 1st F55 in 6:25, Anne Ferguson 1st F60 in 6:50 and Phil Glassbrook 1st M70 in 7:50.
Isaline Pollitt was 2nd F50 in 6:21, Anthony Foster 2nd M70 in 8:22 and Don Taylor 2nd M65 in 7:14. Vicki Hamer was 3rd FS in 6:25.

Three members travelled to Penrith for the Lowther Show Trail Race, 13 miles of scenic but tough running with 1,400ft of ascent.
Andy Staveley was 21st overall and 2nd V50 in 1:46:10, followed by Pete Hopley 28th overall in 1:49:47 and Shirley Staveley, 15th in the women’s race and 2nd F50 in 2:07:05.

Lawrence McDonald tackled the Leigh 10K and came home in 48:32.

Paula Pilling won the Go Tri Tameside Duathlon women’s race and finished 4th overall. She covered the first run of 2,400m in 9:49, followed that up with a time of 19:09 for the 10K bike ride and finished off with 4:52 for the 1,200m second run.
