Burnden Race Reports

BURNDEN scored three victories at the tough Edenfield Fell Race.
The demanding 10.3K course with more than 1500ft of climb attracted a strong club turnout with 20 members taking up the challenge.
Andy Staveley was the first Burnden runner to finish, 25th overall with his time of 53:31 earning him the V55 prize.
Paula Pilling was third in the ladies race, winning the F40 class in 61mins 41secs.
Anne Ferguson was also a winner, 1st F60 in 65:41.
Don Taylor was 2nd V65 in 1:16:48.

Neil Critchley completed his 52nd marathon, coming a superb 44th overall in the seriously tough Bolton Hill Marathon with a time of 5:08:45.
Several members opted for the half marathon version 24 hours later and again the club scored several victories.
Jackie Oakes was the first member to finish, winning the F45 group and 28th overall in a time of 2:09:36.
Carolyn Barker was next to finish, 1st F50 in 2:16:20 and Phil Glassbrook was 1st V70 in 2:20:57.
Kelly Sullavan was 4th F40 in 2:19:25.
Second place age category success went to Sarah Woodiwiss in the F45 section with 2:29:09, Denise Hodgkinson in the F50 category with 2:29:09 and Gillian McGowan in the F55 group with 3:53:50.
Karen Ratcliffe completed the club’s representation, crossing the finish line in 3:53:48.

Earlier in the week Jackie Oakes ran the Levens 10K in a time of 48:21.
