PARKRUN EVENT #324 01/07/2017

With Endure 24 and races at Radcliffe, Alderley Edge and Southport featuring this weekend, numbers were lower than usual.

Massive thanks this week to Burnden regular and part of the Bolton Run Directors team, Louise Geoghegan, who not only set up and was an integral part of making this week’s event happen, then ran the course but then also spent some considerable time sorting the gremlins in the system that through up a number of quirks that needed to be addressed. There is much more to parkrun than the graceful swan we see on a Saturday morning, there is a lot of work goes on behind the scenes week to week and over each weekend to deliver the results to your inbox and ensure the results are correct.

Rounding up the trio of tourists first this week as all claimed PB’s! Sarah Sutcliffe smashing 47 seconds off her best at Heaton Park and going sub 24 for the first time in her 17 appearances with a time of 23.15 and 3rd female in a field of exactly 600.

Mike Watkinson also bagged a PB at South Manchester on his second visit, taking 18 seconds from his first run a fortnight ago, delivering a 21.29.

And completing the hat-trick for the only 3 tourists of the week, Susan Pickering visited Stretford for the second time in 3 weeks and claimed a PB by 13 seconds in 29.08.

At Bolton we had a sole PB, so congratulations to Ann Hardman who’s 4 runs have seen an improvement every time, this week’s 41.02 a massive 52 second improvement on the previous run early June.

It is fantastic to see Jessica Sammon back at Bolton parkrun and her times are dropping on each visit. Keep up the good work Jess.

Burnden had 27 runners at Bolton this week, by far the best represented club at the event and one of 15 running clubs at the event this week.

235 runners have represented Burnden at Bolton, completing 9,509 runs between them, a massive 15,337 miles run and an average of 40 runs per participant.

86 runners have never ventured away from Bolton for a bit of parkrun tourism. For those that have travelled, an additional 1,117 runs have been completed “on the road” with Simon Marland leading the way with 63 tourist runs at 38 other events.

11 athletes have run more at other events than Bolton, with 3 split equally between home and tourism and 26 have only ever tried 1 run without Cruella.
