HOW TO JOIN

Burnden Road Runners is a warm & friendly club that caters for all runners whether new to running, returning from injury, returning to running or simply trying to get active and we always welcome new members.

The prospect of joining a running club can be a daunting task but at Burnden all are welcome to come along & get involved no matter what ability of runner you are. Therefore we have the New Starters Group to help ease in new members gradually & also a Next Steppers Group for those looking to progress (details below).

Alternatively you can of course turn up to our 7pm Monday night training sessions at Smithills Sports Centre, Smithills Dean Rd., Bolton.

Whichever option suits you best if you have any questions please don't hesitate to contact Club Chairman Rob Short for more information, Tel 07855 268005 Email This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..

NEW STARTERS GROUP

New to running, returning after an injury or returning to running, then the New Starters Group is for you.

The group is about to begin working with its latest group of runners and although it was originally set up for beginners, other more experienced runners have joined us. Each programme is designed around the needs and goals of the runners in that group, so it is unique and individualised. The initial informal 3 week period gives an opportunity for us to get to know you and find out what you would like to get out of the group; following this the formal programme will hopefully take you to your destination, whether that be a race or to simply run a set distance without stopping.

The next group will commence on 18th September 2017 (6pm) and meets at Smithills School Sports Centre, Smithills Dean Rd, Bolton each Monday from 6pm until 7pm (except bank holidays, and meet at 7pm when it is the date of the monthly club meeting).

See here for more information.

NEXT STEPPERS GROUP

So you have successfully completed the New Starters Group and can run 3 miles without stopping, but where do you go next? or are you looking to reach the 10k level; or are you an experienced runner returning to running…then the Next Steppers Group is for you.

The group is about to begin working with its 2nd group of runners and although it was originally set up for those graduating from the beginner’s group, other more experienced runners who are already able to run 3 miles without stopping can join us. Each programme is designed around the needs and goals of the runners in that group, so it is unique and individualised. The initial informal 3 week period gives an opportunity for us to get to know you and find out what you would like to get out of the group; following this the formal programme will hopefully take you to your destination, whether that be a race or to simply run a longer distance without stopping.

The group is designed to progress runners who have completed a New Starters group and are now running 3 miles (5K) without stopping, plus anyone else looking to progress beyond this level. It meets at Smithills Sports Centre every Monday night at 7pm (except bank holidays, when the sports centre is closed) and each session is £1.

The next group will commence on 9th January 2017 at 7pm (at Smithills School Sports Centre, Smithills Dean Rd, Bolton) and meets there each Monday at 7pm (except bank holidays, when the sports centre is closed).

See here for more information.

MAIN GROUP

If you run for three miles without stopping and want to progress to the next stage? Then our 7pm groups are made especially for you. The people leading the sessions have lots of experience in different areas of running and wish to share their knowledge with you.

The sessions are held at 7pm at Smithills School Sports Hall, Smithills Dean Rd., Bolton, each Monday (except bank holidays) and the cost of each session is £1.

On the first Monday of each month or in the case of a bank holiday, on the following Monday, the monthly club meeting takes place at 8.45pm at a local cricket club and is a great opportunity to socialise and meet other club members from the main group.

Membership to Burnden Road Runners and registration with UK Athletics is £25. For more information please contact Club Chairman Robert Short - Tel 07855 268005 - email This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.
