How To Join

Burnden Road Runners is a warm & friendly club that caters for all runners whether you are a competitive runner, new to running, returning from injury, or simply trying to get active, we always welcome new members.

The prospect of joining a running club can be a daunting task but at Burnden all are welcome to come along & get involved no matter what ability of runner you are. Therefore we have the New Beginners Group to help ease in new members gradually.

Alternatively you can of course turn up to our 7pm Monday night training sessions at Smithills Sports Centre, Smithills Dean Rd., Bolton, we also train at Leverhulme track on a Wednesday evening and have a Sunday morning long run starting at various locations.

Whichever option suits you best if you have any questions please don't hesitate to contact Club Chairman Paul Christie for more information, Tel Email This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

Membership fees for 2022 are due on the 1st January 2022 the cost is £26 which includes registration with England Athletics.

All members joining and renewing must sign and agree to the Senior Athletes Code of Conduct which is within our application form.

New members joining after 30th September will pay a reduced membership fee of £16 (to cover England Athletics admin costs) for the remainder of the year.

A reduced concessionary fee of £16 is available for any students, OAP’s or unwaged.

New to running, returning after an injury or returning to running, then the New Beginners Group is for you.

Each programme is designed around the needs and goals of the runners in that group, so it is unique and individualised. The initial informal 3 week period gives an opportunity for us to get to know you and find out what you would like to get out of the group; following this the formal programme will hopefully take you to your destination, whether that be a race or to simply run a set distance without stopping.

You are more than welcome to join us each Monday at 7pm, we meet at Smithills School Sports Centre, Smithills Dean Rd, Bolton

See here for more information.

If you run for three miles without stopping and want to progress to the next stage? Then our main groups are made especially for you. The people leading the sessions have lots of experience in different areas of running and wish to share their knowledge with you.

The sessions are held at 7pm at Smithills School Sports Hall, Smithills Dean Rd., Bolton, each Monday (except bank holidays) and the cost of each session is £1.

Visit the home page or follow us on facebook where the sessions for each Monday evening will be posted.

On the first Monday of each month or in the case of a bank holiday, on the following Monday, the monthly club meeting takes place at 8.45pm at a local cricket club and is a great opportunity to socialise and meet other club members from the main group.

We also train on a Wednesday evening at Leverhulme Park with 1 foot on the track and have recently introduced Sunday morning long runs starting at various locations.

Membership to Burnden Road Runners and registration with UK Athletics is £26. For more information please contact Club Chairman Paul Christie - Tel  - email This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.
