IRONMAN UK - Lap band station Volunteering

The iconic Ironman UK is returning to Bolton on Sunday 14th July, now is your chance to get involved.

We are not asking you to swim 2.4 miles, cycle 112 miles and run 26.2 miles! ( though some of our members have in the past). Burnden have organised the lap band station on the run course for the last few years and we need around 20 volunteers to help out.

Above is a video from when we volunteered in 2016

It's a really good and enjoyable way to get close to the action without doing all the hard work! For those members who are not aware of what happens, the marathon route consists of 4 laps of Bolton town centre and for each lap completed a coloured band is given. Once all the laps have been completed the runner finishes their marathon in front of the town hall.

Its a long day so we have two shifts one from around 10am to 5pm and another from 4pm to 10pm ( though we can be a bit flexible at either end of the day) you get a free t-shirt and a snack and the club also receives a donation towards our funds so its a really worthwhile thing to do. Last year we were situated next to the transition area in Queens Park so you get to see a lot of the athletes.

If you would like to join us or would like more information please get in touch saying which shift you would prefer or if you are Ok with either.

Many thanks

Andy Warburton
